English-speaking Jewish writers in the modern world have remained deeply conscious of their roots in Biblical texts and traditional liturgy. They offer us new ways to meditate on the significance of our celebrations---in language that is personal, vivid, solidly located in contemporary history. As they rethink our rituals, they invite us to do so also.
